Balanced Audio Technology’s VK-P6SE improves upon the startlingly good VK-P6 by adding a Special Edition gain stage configuration and the same Six-Pak oil-filled output capacitors employed by the reference VK-P12. A beneficiary of trickle-down engineering from BAT’s most-expensive designs, VK-P6SE employs ten tubes in a dual-mono, balanced zero-feedback topology. The Special Edition gain stage employs 6C45 vacuum tubes to achieve improved electrical performance, including more gain and a more open, transparent sound. Dual-mono construction and enormous energy reserves are matched by extensive flexibility in cartridge loading.
